steaming carrot

Somehow, while I was away, I managed to convince myself that the Yukon was headed for spring, that march and april would be milder. I didn’t check the thermometer this morning and wound up biking downtown in temperatures cold enough that the tiny metal nose-pads on the tip of my sunglasses were a vector of unbearable freezing–like the needle into the gums @ the dentist’s–through the only exposed part of my face.

This evening, my roommate and I headed out to the Beringia Centre because it’s the first night of the film fest. Finally, arty films in Whitehorse that we can go see! We piled into her car, and she put the raw carrot she was eating down on the dashboard momentarily. It was steaming from the cold. Or rather, from the sudden adjustment to the minus 30 environment.
